WASHINGTON- A meeting is now planned for area residents to talk about Hanford as a possible site for the Global Nuclear Energy Partnership.
The U.S. Department of Energy says they will hold a meeting on March 13 in Pasco.
Residents can voice their opinions during the meeting.
DOE is planning an environmental impact study for the site, and needs community involvement as the process moves forward.
The GNEP explores possible places for a nuclear fuel recycling center, advanced recycling reactor and advanced fuel research facility.
The project is designed at advancing the nation's nuclear energy program.
