SEATTLE, Wash. - The U-787 Beoing Dreamliner was officially registered with the ABRA. It could race in Seafair if needed.
The boat's the back-up hull for the U-16 Ellstrom's Elam team and last ran in Detroit in 2006 with Nate Brown filling in for Dave Villwock afetr Villwock and the #1 hull got banged up in Valleyfield, Quebec.
Jimmy King got to take it our for a few laps Friday on Lake Washington. He ran the exhibition laps that would have qualified the boat to race. Top speed of 134.434.
Finding a driver isn't the easiest fit. The cockpit's small. King said he got picked because of his size.
"Yep, I fit," King told ABRAHydroplanes.com. "The boat ran pretty well but it isn't too fast, but we did exactly what they (Boeing) wanted."
