YAKIMA, Wash. -- The Yakima city council will hold a discussion on Initiative 985 Tuesday night, a measure that is intended to increase traffic flows through out the state.
Mayor Dave Edler says "it will do great harm". He says the measure, designed by "initiative guru" Tim Eyman, was created with the westside of the state in mind.
"It will re-direct funds", says Edler. "From my perspective, things are tight and we sit in a place where we stand to lose".
The Washington Association of Cities, which Yakima is a part of, recently took an official stance against Initiative 985, which already has a place on the November general election ballot.
The public hearing is set for Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Yakima City Hall council chambers.
