    SPOKANE, Wash. - A 22-year-old Spokane man was sentenced Tuesday to a year in federal prison and five years probation after he pleaded guilty last year to conspiracy to commit bank fraud. According to information disclosed during court proceedings, Brendon M. McCullough and his conspirators stole credit and debit cards, check and PINs from mailboxes and used that stolen financial information to withdraw funds' from victims' bank accounts.

    LINCOLN COUNTY, Wash. - The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office reports a female inmate tried to escape while she was being taken back to jail after a court appearance Tuesday. Deputies say that around 11 a.m., the inmate was being escorted across the street from Superior Court when she tried to make a break for it. She was being escorted by an armed deputy and two other suspects. She was in belly chains, ankle restraints and handcuffs when she tried to run.

(AP) - Customers of Avista Corp. told the state Utilities and Transportation Commission they're happy with their local electric and natural gas utility and see little benefit from its sale to a Canadian corporation.    About 80 people attended a public hearing in Spokane Monday on the proposed $5.3 billion sale to Hydro One, of Toronto. While some customers spoke in support of the sale, many who testified were skeptical.
