Man Convicted For Killing His Mother in Kennewick Asks For Jury Trial

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash.-- A Kennewick man who was convicted of stabbing his mother to death back in 1988 was back in court.

Michael McFarland has now asked for a jury trial in Pierce county to determine whether or not he should remain at Western State Hospital or be released on probation in Kitsap county.

McFarland served 20 years in prison and was set to be released last month. Instead he was committed for mental evaluation. A trial date has been set for late April.
