Yakima Firefighters Investigating Arson

Posted: Updated:

YAKIMA--Yakima firefighters are investigating an early-morning fire that they say is arson.

Firefighters aren't saying what caused the fire at this time, just that it started outside.

Crews responded to the house in the 100 block of North Sixth Street around 2:00 a.m.   Even with the fire starting outside, it spread quickly throughout the house.

Neighbors said several families lived in the apartments in this house, but only one was home when the fire started.   They were able to get out in time and no one was injured.

Firefighters don't have any suspects right now.  Samples from the scene have been sent to the crime lab and they'll continue investigating.

Firefighters estimated damages at $160,000.
