HANFORD, Wash. - State Route 240 is open again after blowing dust caused multiple accidents near the Yakima Barricade Sunday afternoon.
Sergeant Roger Wilbur with Washington State Patrol said there was zero visibility for a couple hours and Hanford Patrol reported a 77 mile an hour gust of wind.
The dust caused a chain reaction of crashes. One accident included a State Patrol car.
State Route 240 was closed in both directions from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. until the wind and the dust died down. All traffic was diverted from State Route 240 to State Route 225 towards Benton City. No major injuries were reported from any of the crashes.
