Fat Enzyme May Be Key to Obesity

Posted: Updated:

Imagine eating a high-fat diet... Without having to worry about packing on the pounds

Researchers from the University of California, San Francisco, say they've been able to protect lab mice from obesity, by knocking out an enzyme responsible for metabolism of fat in the intestine.

Mice on a high-fat diet were also protected against high cholesterol when the enzyme was absent.

This could someday lead to new medications for obesity.
