SEATTLE (AP) - A new survey of Washington youth shows the number of kids smoking, drinking and taking drugs has remained steady for the past two years.
About 20% of 12th graders report smoking cigarettes. About 7% of 8th graders are smoking.
More than 40% of high school seniors say they drink alcohol, including a quarter of all 12th graders who report binge drinking.
Since the last statewide health survey was done two years ago, Smoking went down slightly among 6th graders and so did drinking.
