Kennewick, WA- Mid Columbia farmers are showing kids that there are futures in agriculture.
Fifth graders from throughout the Tri-Cities are taking field trips this week to the annual Farm Fair at the Benton County Fairgrounds.
The kids are seeing, and getting to touch all kinds of farm animals.
Fair organizer and third generation farmer Walter Neff says the kids are also learning that the milk they drink doesn't come from plastic jugs. "Actually, it comes out of a cow. You know, there's a lot of things they're going to learn."
Along with showing kids where their food comes from, sponsors of the farm fair want to show kids how important agriculture is to the local economy, and the farmers also hope some of the children will consider careers in agriculture.
