Kennewick Irrigation District Manager Gets Fired

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash.-- Doug Grover says the KID board fired him because they told him he was unable to manage and lead people.

Grover says the board told him to come in for a review of his work. But he had already heard they might fire him.

Board members voted 4 to 1 to terminate him with David McKenzie being the only one to vote against it. Grover was hired by KID in November 2007, and has served on the board before.

"I would challenge the board about being open, open discussions, open board meetings and they just, they didn't want any part of that I guess," said Grover.

KNDU talked to employees who had a map with the 16 miles of canal that were rebuilt while Grover worked as manager.

KNDU tried getting a hold of board members today but no one was around to comment. Margo Hines, the assistant district manager says there will be a board meeting on Thursday at 9:00a.m.

They'll be looking into picking an interim manager. The public is welcomed to attend.
