Kennewick, WA- A state lawmaker representing the Tri-Cities says the current legislative session is one of the toughest he's seen.
House Representative Larry Haler opposes most of the governor's proposed budget cuts. He's also against the governor's proposals to spend more on environmental causes, including cleaning up the Puget Sound and climate change.
"It's the wrong issue at the wrong time," Haler says. "Perhaps it would be the right issue if the economy were better."
The legislative session is scheduled to end in late April, but lawmakers expect they'll have to return in June to continue hammering out a compromise on the budget.
