The family of an dead Iraqi security guard has filed a federal lawsuit against a former Blackwater Worldwide contractor they say killed the man.
Survivors of Raheem Khalaf Sa'adoon also accuse Blackwater of destroying documents to cover up the incident and reneging on promises to compensate the man's wife and two children.
The lawsuit filed Thursday accuses former Blackwater guard Andrew Moonen of shooting Sa'adoon on Christmas Eve 2006 after getting drunk at a party and then getting lost.
Sa'adoon was a guard for Iraqi Vice President Adel Abdul Mahdi. Moonen's lawyer has said federal prosecutors intend to charge the Seattle resident in the killing.
Blackwater changed its name to Xe (ZEE) in February.
