"Tonight Show" Is Friendly Turf For President Obama
There were some serious moments but President Barack Obama's appearance on the "Tonight" show with Jay Leno was hardly contentious.
Obama is the first sitting president to visit the "Tonight" show and he did spend some time defending treasury secretary Timothy Geithner (GYT'-nur) from recent criticism. Obama says his treasury secretary has taken the right steps against a host of problems.
Obama said he was stunned when the bonuses to executives at federally bailed out AIG became public knowledge. He also says the payments symbolized a larger issue of Wall Street's "attitude of entitlement."
At the end of Obama's visit, a beaming Leno said it had been "one of the best nights" of his life.
