RICHLAND, Wash-- A number of Tri-Cities churches wrapped up the weekend-long Sharefest 2009 with their annual food drive.
We stopped by the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Richland. One representative says based on early numbers, they didn't collect as much food as they would've hoped. She's not blaming the economy for a lack of donations, though, but perhaps convenience.
"It could be expense, people just bringing the things that are extra off their cupboards instead of going out and buying a certain amount," says Susan McCoy.
The food will be weighed Monday, and then taken to the Tri-Cities Food Bank. The monetary donations will be counted next week. That money will go to the Union Gospel Mission in Pasco and the Columbia Basin Veterans Coalition.
