Davis High Freshman Wins Bowling Tourney

YAKIMA, Wash. - TJ Besel, coming off his perfect 300 game on March 8th in the USBC sanctioned junior tournament in Deer Park, topped the Eastside of the state in the 2009 Washington State USBC Pepsi Championships Eastern Sectional at Stardust Lanes in Walla Walla. The Eastern Sectional took place on March 21st and 22nd. TJ, bowling in the scratch division, rolled a 1227 series for 6 games. He will now advance to the Pepsi State Championship in Burien on May 16th and 17th, 2009. TJ, from Yakima, is a freshman at Davis High School.

Statewide, Jordan Plunkett, from the Westside, is the only competitor that topped TJ's score with a 1253 series. Other local competitors, in the scratch division, that qualified for the state championship tournament are Marshall Kent with an 1189 series and Cody Smith with a 1060 series. The competition consists of youths through the age of 21.
