Friends of Tiairra Garcia Struggle With Loss

Posted: Updated:

PASCO, Wash. -- Prosecutors recently declared 19 year old Tiairra Garcia of Pasco dead, but her friends are still waiting for her body to be found to get some closure.

One family who lives in the area of 2nd and Ainsworth in Pasco talk about losing Tiairra.

Barbara and Latanya Thomas struggle with the thought that their friend won't be coming back. Barbara says, "to know she's not going to walk through that door anymore, with that big smile, is just really awful."

Two days ago prosecutors said they had enough evidence to declare Tiarra Garcia dead . They filed manslaughter charges against her former boyfriend Marnicus Lockhard, a somewhat abusive boyfriend according to her friends.

Latanya said, "She would try to get out of his car, and she would have scratch marks...kind of like scarface."

It's been more than nine months since Tiairra went missing. Pasco police think her body was dumped in the area of Mount Rainier National Park. They're waiting for the snow to melt to go back and search.
