Prosser Football Coach Tom Moore Resigns

Posted: Updated:

PROSSER, Wash. -- Prosser head football coach Tom Moore called it quits Thursday. Moore resigned after being the leader of Mustang football for the last 22 years. He won more than 4 times as many games as any other Prosser coach.

Under him, the Mustangs grabbed 4 state titles, the last title coming in 2008. Both Kellen and Kirby, Moore's sons are playing football for Boise State after graduating from Prosser.

And Coach Moore says watching his kids play football had everything to do with his decision.

Coach Moore says, "My desire or passion for coaching has nothing to do with this decision. It's just a family decision. We're just not going to miss our kids playing and last year I missed 3 games and I'm not going to miss 3 games for the next 4 years. It's been a lot of fun here. We've been here 22 years and they all sort of blend together. I think the best thing we've dones is we've been pretty consistent. We've been consistently pretty good. We haven't been a real rollercoaster team. The last couple years, especially getting to coach my own sons, has been tremendous."

No announcement yet on who will replace Moore.
