A New and Safer Stem Cell Approach

Posted: Updated:

In  medical news... University of Wisconsin researchers say they've found a safer way to turn ordinary human skin cells into embryonic-like stem cells.

Previously, scientists had to use a virus or d-n-a to carry genes into the cells in order to reprogram them.

The new method allows scientists to bypass the virus or potentially harmful d-n-a, which could have interfered with the cells' normal development.

The new stem cell approach is enticing to many health professionals, because it would not require destroying a human embryo.
