PASCO, Wash-- A Benton County firefighter who died over 30 years ago from burn injuries was honored Saturday in Pasco.
Dozens were on hand for breakfast and a firefighter demonstration at All Seasons Landscape and Design to remember fallen firefighter Art Shrives. The Art Shrives memorial burn fund has been around for more than three decades. In that time it has expanded to help more firefighters with burn injuries.
"It has been converted to a community fund, for people who are injured due to burns or they have to be sent out monetary donations," says Tawna Maiden of Franklin County Fire District 3. "They're given to that family to help with medical bills, food, gas, whatever they need to keep moving forward with their lives."
The benefit raised roughly $400. All proceeds will go to the Art Shrives fund.
