KENNEWICK, WA. - Extra patrols are out this weekend in the Tri-Cities to catch drunk drivers.
Almost a dozen drivers have been arrested and taken to the Mobile Impaired Driving Unit. It's parked at the Benton County Jail in Kennewick and has come all the way from Seattle to help out, saving local law enforcement precious time and a lot of paper work.
"We'll take them into custody and then take care of the processing of the suspect and also any other paper work that is involved. Then, we'll get them booked into jail so we can get that officer back onto the road to look for another impaired driver," said Sergeant Rob Sharpe with Washington State Patrol.
The mobile impaired driving unit will be back next weekend for another round of extra patrols.
