Pasco, WA- Red balloons floated down the corridor of Lourdes Medical Center, and bouquets of red carnations decorated the lobby today, as the hospital celebrated National Doctors' Day.
Lourdes and other hospitals throughout the Mid Columbia are holding several events this week to show appreciation to physicians.
Chief Surgeon at Lourdes Greg Carl says he has received as much as he has given in his 30 years in practice. "If I had to come up with a word to describe this energy, I think 'love' is the most accurate. That's what it's like being a doctor, and it's a great way to spend a career."
The first National Doctors' day was celebrated March 30, 1933.
