Judge To Webster: Shorten Witness List

Posted: Updated:
Pasco, WA-  A Franklin County judge has told a convicted felon acting as his own attorney to shorten his witness list.

David Webster is accused of raping a cellmate inside the Franklin County Jail.

Superior Court Judge Cameron Mitchell today told Webster many of  the witnesses he plans to call to the stand don't appear relevant to the charges against him.

Webster says he hasn't had time to narrow down his witnesses because of the inconvenient commute each day from the state penitentiary at Walla Walla.

That's where Webster is serving 26 years for trying to hire someone to kill his girlfriend.

Webster today alleged the prosecutor's witnesses, which include many courthouse employees, are conspiring against him and are racially prejudiced.

The prosecution plans to call 13 witnesses. The first could take the stand later this week.
