RICHLAND, Wash-- For the last eight years the Richland Rotary Club has been honoring many entrepreneurs from the Tri-Cities. Tuesday they awarded one of their own members. Long time entrepreneur with several patents, Tom Kirchner won the Sam Volpentest Award.
This is a surprise leadership award the club always keeps secret. It recognizes someone with true entrepreneurial spirit in the Tri-Cities. Kirchner is that to a tee.
He has been running his own business called Electronics Systems Technology, with 20 people working under him.
Kirchner is the first Rotarian to be given the award. Right after he won KNDU asked him if this is something he will remember forever.
"Yes, something I will never forget. You are absolutely correct there. I'm totally shocked. I never saw it coming. Nobody leaked it so I'm still in a state of shock," said Kirchner.
Other entrepreneurs were awarded for their success after only being in business two to five years. They include Advanced Medical Isotopes, Ali and Jared Boyle from Alexandria Nicole Cellars, and many others.
