KENNEWICK, Wash-- It seems everything is moving to the online world these days, and politics are no exception. There's a new state government website that blurs the line between Capitol Hill and every day citizens: it's at www.recovery.wa.gov.
It allows you to go county by county and see how much money the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act is pumping into our economy. In Benton and Franklin Counties, we're getting roughly $21 million.
The site's overseer says the site is successful because it keeps government officials accountable.
"What our website does is help to show people where that money is going, what it's being used for and to show the public that we're being accountable for that funding," says Glenn Kuper. "So we really want people to be able to look at it and see how this money is helping down to my specific county or my specific community."
And keep checking up on the website, it will continually update where money goes, and if more money comes in to the state.
