Hanford Receives First Installment of Stimulus Money
RICHLAND, Wash.-- Hanford has received its first installment of money from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
Tuesday the site got more than $1.5-billion, which is about 80% of what they will get from the federal government.
Hanford contractors will be able to start using the money once they get what's called a "Notice to Proceed," which should come later this week. Once they get the notice, they can start hiring, and then the work begins.
Hanford expects to get nearly $2-billion from this act, which will ultimately create 4,000 jobs.
