April is National Humor MonthPosted: Updated:
SELAH, Wash. - Many health professionals believe laughing is good for your health so during April, National Humor Month, there is an extra effort to get more laughter in your life.
Carmen's Comedy Club offers the Yakima Valley a chance to get their needed prescription of humor twice a week. The club opened earlier this year and the owner says they have a packed house almost every week.
Carmen Garrison decided to open the place as someone who loved comedy and wanted to fill the void left with no club. As someone with a health background, she sees the benefits of incorporating more humor in your life.
"There's a lot of things to bring you down so sometimes, yeah, you do have to make the point of looking for something to lighten the lad a little bit," she said.
Garrison says in its first few months, the club is off to a good start. She has already booked the club through July with two comedians performing on Friday and Saturday of each week. She says there was clearly an interest in having one in the Yakima Valley, somebody just needed to take the next step.
"It's one of those things that once somebody did it everyone's been saying, we've been wondering if someone would finally do this," she said. The club is a 21 and older place but Garrison says the humor ranges in its adult content from week to week.
