Gonzaga Music Director Holds Clinics at Kennewick Schools
KENNEWICK, Wash.-- Many Kennewick students got a special musical visit on Thursday from a member of the Spokane Symphony.
Students at Kennewick High practiced on Thursday conducted by doctor Kevin Hekmatpanah, professor and symphony conductor at Gonzaga University in Spokane. Hekmatpanah says he's impressed with the young Tri-City talent.
"It's very important for the community to know that there is a lot of musical talent in the area and it should be nurtured and fostered because it's a gold mine," said Hekmatpanah.
Hekmatpanah has also been playing cello for the Spokane Symphony since 1994. On Thursday evening he'll be playing at Southridge High at 7:00 p.m. for free with a local pianist.
