LEWISTON, Idaho (AP) - A Clarkston, Wash., man convicted in a fatal shooting in Lewiston has been sentenced to life in prison without parole.

Leotis B. Branigh III, 33, was sentenced Friday in Idaho's 2nd District Court.

Judge Jeff M. Brudie also sentenced Branigh to an additional 15-year prison term for using a firearm.

Branigh represented himself and maintains his innocence.

A Nez Perce County jury convicted Branigh of first-degree murder in December after concluding Branigh shot and killed Michael Johnston outside Johnston's home in October 2007.

Nez Perce County Prosecutor Dan Spickler says Branigh killed Johnston to eliminate a person Branigh viewed as a rival for Desiree Anderson, Johnston's ex-wife.

Spickler says Johnston and Anderson were reconciling.
