KENNEWICK, Wash.-- A new partnership with Microsoft could mean free computer training for job seekers.
More than 30,000 vouchers have been issued to WorkSource centers across the state. There are 1,133 vouchers available at WorkSource in Kennewick.
It's part of the Microsoft Elevate America program. Basically anyone interested in getting more computer training can pick one up.
The vouchers are worth between $100 and $300. There are different levels of training that you can sign up for, including Microsoft Office 2003 and 2007 and also IT Pro.
Anyone interested has to do an interview first. KNDU talked to one man who knows basic computer skills and says learning more is always good.
"Computers are what's needed, so any more information that I can get in learning certificates will help me," said Marvin Clark.
"They can log into the web site, register and then they have to redeem the voucher online through the Microsoft web site," said Robert Loftis, with WorkSource.
WorkSource in Kennewick has given out close to 20 so far. You can redeem the voucher from your computer at home and finish the training at your own pace.
The vouchers are valid for up to a year.
