Online Registration Open Today for B Reactor Tours
RICHLAND, Wash. - The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) opened online registration today for Saturday tours of the historic B Reactor.
Visits to the B Reactor are currently scheduled for April 25, May 9 and 30, June 6, 13 and 20, July 11, 18 and 25, August 8, 15, 22 and 29, and Sept. 5, 12, 19 and 26.
There will be two tours each day, one starting at 8 a.m. and another at 12:15 p.m.
The B Reactor visits allow the public to see firsthand this National Historic Landmark - the world's first full-scale plutonium production reactor. Visitors will spend two full hours at the reactor.
The tours begin and end at the Tri-Cities Enterprise Center at 2000 Logston Blvd. in Richland, off Hwy. 240. The 45-minute bus ride to the reactor includes a 20-minute video about the reactor.
Saturday visits to the B Reactor are separate from the Hanford Site Public Tours that take five hours and give visitors an opportunity to see cleanup activities at several locations on the 586-square-mile Hanford Site. The sitewide tours also include an hour-and-15-minute stop at the B Reactor.
