Yakima Valley Veteran Center Moves to New Location
YAKIMA, Wash-- The Yakima Veterans Center has moved to a new location. They still offer all of the same veteran support, but now it's even easier. They were able to design the center from the ground-up, making it more user friendly.
They're still putting the finishing touches on the building, but have been there for about a month. Yakima has a high number Vietnam veterans and veterans from our current conflicts are returning home everyday.
Staff say their mission remains the same, they're helping soldiers adjust back to civilian life.
"To me, having served in a combat zone is having served in a combat zone, if it's in Southeast Asia or the Middle East, the problems are still the same," said Larry Wilson, Yakima Valley team leader.
Some of the new features include more room for group meetings and the ability to have video conferencing sessions for counseling.
The new Veterans Center is located on 2119 West Lincoln Avenue. It's open Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The staff looks forward to helping new clients.
