Citizen's Academy Makes Regular People Police Experts
KENNEWICK, Wash. - A new group of citizens can say they know all there is to know about the Kennewick Police Department.
Every spring the Kennewick Police Department offers a course called Citizen's Academy. It's a five week course that starts in mid March. Two nights a week for five weeks regular citizens learn patrol procedures, crime scene and evidence collection, gang investigations, code enforcement and more.
Participants even take tours of the jail, go through District Court and the Benton County Dispatch Center. Anyone can participate, even none Kennewick residents.
If you would like to participate, the next class doesn't start until March of 2010, but you can sign up anytime. Just email Mark Weber at email@example.com.
