LOS ANGELES (AP) - Los Angeles police say a man suspected of pulling an injured college student off a car windshield after a deadly hit & run accident was arrested while trying to cross back into the United States from Mexico.
Officer April Harding said Saturday that Josue (HOH'-sway) Luna, 32, was detained at a border crossing Friday after his name prompted an alert that he was wanted in Los Angeles.
Police contend Luna's wife ran a red light and struck two students near the University of Southern California on March 29. An 18-year-old student died. They say Luna got out of the car and pulled the other student off the windshield and left him bleeding in the street.
Luna was arrested on suspicion of being an accessory to the hit & run and released on $50,0000 bail. His wife remains in jail.
