Walk-A-Mile in Her Shoes for Sexual Assault Awareness

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash- Saturday several men were asked to wear heels to see what it's like to walk a mile in a woman's shoes down Columbia Center Blvd.

Besides feeling the pain of walking in high heels more importantly the event was held to raise awareness for victims of abuse.

The event was put on by the Tri-Cities Sexual Assault Response Center.

"It helps to show that their trying to understand the pain that others suffer from sexual violence by walking in their shoes," said JoDee Garretson, Director of SARC.

If someone is a victim of sexual assault, the center will help them recover by visiting them in the hospital or taking them to court.

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month and SARC gave out free child identification kits before the walk.
