BENTON COUNTY, Wash. -- How about some hydro racing at Two Rivers Park east of Kennewick.

The remote control hydros hitting the water in the Atomic Cup this weekend. The race marks the first of the 2009 R/C Unlimiteds season. These hydros are an 1/8 of the size of the ones you see out on the Columbia River for Water Follies.

The winner Sunday was David Newton. He drives a green and yellow boat, which is modeled after the much bigger U-13 hydro.

What was the race like today for Newton?

He says, "It was a crazy race because I won the 1st consolation race and just like the real boats, from doing that I had to start behind the pack. Most of the boats crashed or died right in front of me so I had to weave my way through. It is a rare occurence that you're able to do that. It's only happened a few times in the club history."
