Cental Washington University's ROTC Students Recognized Nationally
ELLENSBURG, Wash.- Central Washington University students are recognized as the top ROTC class in the U.S.
Students and family filled the room, watching as students were recognized for being the top army reserve officers training corps class out of more than 270 schools in the nation.
The ceremony started with a flag presentation, a salute and a standing ovation, honoring each and every ROTC student. Governor Gregoire celebrated CWU's ROTC class last week. Her husband, Mike Gregoire, was the guest speaker Wednesday night. Gregoire and other former soldiers say receiving an award like this one shows how much integrity CWU students have.
"We're producing outstanding young men and women who have character and conviction that are going to proudly serve our country so we're just thrilled," said Lieutenant Colonel Greg Solem.
The award was presented to leaders in the ROTC class and will be hung up as a reminder of their hard work. Students say they're proud to be part of such a dedicated group of soldiers.
