Hugh Davis - Founder of Columbia Empire Broadcasting Corporation
KNDO has a history of being one of the greatest news stations in Yakima and the Lower Valley. In 1959, Hugh Davis founded Columbia Empire Broadcasting Corporation - a parent company of KNDO. Earlier on in Hugh's career, he started out as an Advertising Sales Executiveand on-air personality for KIMA-TV. He then became Chief Executiveof Columbia Empire Broadcasting until the company was sold in 1988. He turned KNDO into his pride and joy; taking on new challenges every day. From 1984 through 1995, he was also an investor and member of the Board of Directors of KMTR Inc.
Hugh had made a huge impact on the community, as he was involved in a number of community organizations. He was a board member of Central Washington University, Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital, American Heart Association, American Red Cross, Planned Parenthood, as well as chairman of Washington State Association of Broadcasters.
Hugh Davis will always be remembered as a man of greatness for KNDO-TV News and for the Yakima community.
