Central Washington Junior Livestock Show Rounds Up Competitors

Posted: Updated:

TOPPENISH--The Central Washington Junior Livestock Show gets started.

Kids from all over the valley headed to Toppenish on Sunday, bringing their steers, pigs and sheep in to be judged and then sold.

Animals are weighed in on Sunday with the main competition taking place over the next three days.

One steer-raiser looks to improve on his showing last year.

"Well last year I got third place overall and I think my steer this year looks better than the one from last year," Sheldon Lommers said.  "Hopefully, I can at least finish the same place I did last year if not better."

Lommers said he plans to use the money from selling his steer to fix up his car so he can take it to college.  The junior livestock show ends on Wednesday.
