RICHLAND, Wash- A woman kicks a police officer after allegedly refusing to leave a restaurant early Saturday morning.

Police say 33-year-old Winona Rives bit and kicked an officer while they were trying to arrest her at Lee's Tahitian Restaurant in Richland.

A Richland Police Sergeant says assaulting a police officer is not just a misdemeanor it's a felony.

"You don't always expect it, because you expect people to be good citizens in reality there are only a few people in this world that would actually do something like that," said Sgt. Brian Ruegsegger, Richland Police Department.

Rives was booked into Benton County Jail and faces at least four charges.
