WALLA WALLA, Wash-- The Fort Walla Walla Museum recently opened its doors for the 42nd year. The museum is hoping to attract more visitors this year; they average almost 25,000 guests annually.
The museum hasn't seen a lot of foot traffic yet this year, but the museum's executive director is confident this weekend's annual balloon stampede will boost some business.
"The Walla Walla balloon stampede I believe is the 35th year and it brings thousands of folks to town and we will see quite a few of those people at the museum during that weekend," says executive director James Payne.
The museum stays open until October, then it closes down for six months. The museum is also planning on expanding; they're working on an addition that will set up new exhibits. That addition should be completed later this year.
