Kennewick General Hospital Unveils New Special Care Nursery

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash.--  Kennewick General Hospital unveiled a new, state of the art special care nursery Monday.

There are ten brand new beds with cutting edge technology designed to protect and save the lives of new born babies.  The old nursery had only five older model beds.  Doctors at KGH say fewer children will have to travel to Seattle or Spokane for treatment.  Dr. Ahart says the new features will make her job much easier.  She explains, "To have everything self-contained and at your fingertips, rather than having to fun around wires and look at monitors that are not easily accessible, having a bed that is able to turn whichever way you want it to turn is wonderful."

The ten beds can fit up to 13 babies at a time, with three bigger beds that are able to sleep twins.

The new special care nursery cost $1.3-million.
