YAKIMA, Wash. - YVCC will be cutting $2.3 million from its budget or 11.4 percent, according to President Linda Kaminski.
The cuts include layoffs for nine people and eliminating five positions in a hiring freeze. Kaminski says the cuts will make it harder for everyone on campus but they are moving forward.
"It will have a very, very negative effect on this whole institution," she said. "But we're committed to continue to provide quality education and that will be our focus."
About a third of the cuts are non-personnel the rest is split between full-time and part-time staff.
