Selah High School Principal Joe Jones Will Return Next Year
SELAH, Wash-- Selah High School Principal Joe Jones will be returning next year as principal. Jones put in a letter of resignation back in March.
When students and community members got wind of his resignation they stormed the school board meeting. There was standing room only. Students and community members were outraged at Superintendent Deborah Howard. They urged her not to accept Jones' resignation.
Jones said he and Howard are now working out their differences and she's asked him to stay on as principal.
"I'm really happy to be able to know that I'm going to be here next year and my intent it to be here for several years as the high school principal," said Jones.
Jones said he never meant for his resignation to get as much attention as it did. But, he said he's grateful for the support shown by the community and students.
