PASCO, Wash-- Dozens gathered at Chiawana Park in Pasco for a bar-b-que to say thank-you to public employees.
It was part of this year's Public Service Recognition Week. A number of Tri-Citians were honored for their years of hard-work.
One of the event leaders says the tough economic times have highlighted the importance of saying thank-you to the men and women who have given years to help the public.
"We have people here today acknowledged for 20 and 25 years, it is something where they feel there's a duty to be done and they like to get into it and help out where they can," says Earl Fordham.
There are similar events throughout the state, including Seattle, Olympia and Spokane. The event is honored every first full week of May in Washington.
