KENNEWICK, Wash-- It's one of those inventions that makes you think why didn't I think of that?
Two local business partners got a patent for what they call an Alco-Scan, it looks like a breathalyzer vending machine. They can be found in bars all over the Tri-Cities. This is how it works: you pay two dollars, the machine gives you a straw, you blow into it, and it tells you how much alcohol is in your system.
KNDU talked to one of the entrepreneurs at the untapped blues festival this weekend.
"I think it's awesome. I think it's going to really benefit the community and it's going to really reduce the number of drunk drivers," said Burt Lovejoy, Alco-Scan.
Some of the bars the machine can be found include the Pub, Trash, and the Sportspage Bar and Grill.
