Tri-City Bicyclist Gives Away Free Helmets in Pasco
PASCO, Wash.-- About 250 kids got some lessons about safety and a free bike helmet to go with them.
Matthew Moeller, a local bicyclist, says wearing a helmet saved his life in a bike accident two years ago.
He told his story to many kids at the Boys and Girls Club in Pasco on Wednesday. With memorial day weekend coming up Moeller wants to make sure kids are thinking safety first.
"I want kids to understand that helmets are part of standard every day equipment it's not different that the pedals or the wheels, it should be something that folks want to use and recognize that they need to use every time they get on a bicycle," said Moeller.
Moeller teamed up with the Chinook Cycling Club of the Tri-Cities. Staff at the Boys and Girls Club say most of the kids who got a helmet can't afford to pay for one.
