Students Learn Science Through Hands-on Experience
YAKIMA, Wash-- Elementary school students are learning the scientific method through hands on projects. Community members judged their science projects Friday.
More than 100 students at MLK Elementary are involved. The projects are designed to prepare them for WASL testing. From baking soda volcanoes to the fizzieness of pop, students used fun experiments to learn.
"Doing science projects like this takes a lot of hard work and concentration," said Natalie, MLK Elementary 4th grader.
The students also said they'd rather do experiments than learn from the text book. Projects will be judged by community members for prizes, while students will pick a peer favorite.
The science boards are going to be put on display at the Yakima Valley Mall this weekend.
