National Police Memorial Ceremony in Columbia Park
KENNEWICK, Wash-- Dozens gathered in Columbia Park in Kennewick to honor fallen police officers. This week is national police week and officers say it's a time for them, their families, and communities to remember those who were injured or died in the line of duty.
Captain Scott Child explains that their jobs can be dangerous but protecting people is what they do.
"Our job, and we've sworn to duty is to protect the lives of others and that's what this day is about. Remembering those who paid the ultimate sacrifice, those that are no longer with us because they were killed doing their job," said Capt. Scott Childs, Kennewick Police Department.
All the names of every Tri-Cities officer who has been killed in the line of duty were on display.
