City Council Prepares for Budget Study Session Tuesday
YAKIMA, Wash. - The Yakima City Council is preparing for two meetings on Tuesday including a study session to rework the method used to create the city budget.
Council member Rick Ensey previewed both meetings at Monday's City of Yakima Media Briefing. In addition to the regular business meeting set for the evening, there will be a study session in the morning to discuss how the city budget is created each year.
Ensey says city management primarily puts the budget together right now and he wants more council involvement.
"The staff puts together all the budget and they just bring it to us for basically approval, I want the city council to have a broad stroke in decision making."
Ensey also responded to council members' appearance in court Friday over concerns of a public meeting act violation. He says the case should not go to trial.
